Rilynn was chosen as IREC's January Student of the Month. She was recognized at the assembly today and given a certificate and some gifts. Rilynn has been working hard on her assignments and also with her friends, in and out of the classroom. Her smile makes 3SB a better place to be!  Congratulations, Rilynn.  You deserve it!

We were very lucky to see an Alice in Wonderland production today in Red Deer! Kids of all ages acted and sang in the play, and there were also many crew members doing the lighting, sound and props. It was a great event put on by the Cornerstone Youth Theatre Group.

Grade threes, what was your favourite part of the play?

This weekend we celebrated Thanksgiving here in Canada. We are so thankful for the wonderful friends and family that we were able to spend time with. Traditionally, we have a large meal that includes: turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes, pumpkin pie, carrots, turnips, jelly salads, cranberry sauce and many other yummy desserts. We all enjoyed our time off school to be with our family.

Please share what you did for Thanksgiving?

Remembrance Day is on 11 November. It is a special day set aside to remember all those men and women who worked hard for our freedom during the two World Wars and other conflicts. The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month marks the signing of the Armistice, on 11th November 1918, to signal the end of World War One.

On Tuesday, November 6th, we attended and participated in our school's Remembrance Day ceremony.  We performed O'Canada using sign language, and many members of our class sang with the choir.  Thank you to those who joined us for this important occasion.

What was the most memorable part of the ceremony for you?

What did you dress up as for Halloween?  What was the best part of Halloween for you?

Here at IREC, we spent the afternoon outside enjoying a  wonderful fall day.  This was our school-wide physical activity –and it was FUN!

In order to keep our saws sharp,  we were travelling from station to station doing physical challenges. We
collected stamps, stickers or hole-punches on our APPLE passports from each station we visited.

Thank you to all our volunteers!  You made it a lot of fun!

On Tuesday, we were lucky to have a presentation by Blackfalds Fire-Rescue.  They showed us their gear, explained the details of being a firefighter and reminded us how to make good choices if there is ever a fire.  We know that if we get stuck in a room when there is a fire, we should throw something like a teddy bear out the window for the rescue crew to notice.  That way, they know to look up to our window to see if we need help.
